Mentoring the next generation of photographers, one frame at a time.

The AmCam Photography Young Shooters Photography Development Program (YSPDP) is a small group mentorship program for aspiring young photographers (ages 12-17).

Participants will have an opportunity to learn:

  • the basics of photography,

  • how to develop their eye,

  • how to tell you story behind the lens,

  • and much more!

Our goal is to help young photographers see that photography is more than simply "taking pictures", it's a way to change the world. Participants will learn both online and on location, where they will be able to cultivate their gifts and foster their love for photography.

We also support the academic development of the program participants by offering access to tutoring in core subjects. Our young photographers must seek to maintain a 3.50 G.P.A. to remain in the YSPDP.

The YSPDP is full for the 2024. Applications to participate in the YSPDP will be available in January 2025. We invite you to check back at that time to apply for the program.

There are some people who take life by the reigns and seek to grab hold of every opportunity afforded them. Nilah did this from the moment she entered the program in 2020. She signed up for as many on location sessions that she could and even volunteered to assist at AmCam Photography client sessions. She also helped other participants in the program learn and develop. Throughout the program, Nilah has maintained above a 3.6 G.P.A. in high school.

For her leadership, passion, fervor to learn, and demonstrated commitment, we are honoring Nilah Hughes as our 2023 Outstanding Young Shooter. Congratulations Nilah!
